It’s nice to be in the 6th spot right now and the 5th would be even better, but the most important thing standings-wise is to match up with the Atlanta Hawks in the first round. We don’t match up well with Orlando and Boston, and Cleveland isn’t going to lose to us when it really matters. Atlanta is our best shot at advancing. Interesting move to sign Larry Hughes. I think it could work, although team chemistry isn’t something he’s ever added to in his career. Gerald Wallace will miss a couple games due to his ankle injury, so we should see some Larry right away.

Great comeback by the Bobcats last night in front of a nice crowd that came in just under 19,000. Raymond and D.J. were terrific, as was Gerald on the boards and Boris came on down the stretch. D-Wade wasn’t very complimentary to the Kitties in his postgame comments, but I’d be frustrated too if I was a top-5 player and was on the outside looking in playoff-wise.

Also, Kobe’s clutch shot that beat the Raptors last night was nice, as his buzzer beaters usually are. But what bothered me is that SportsCenter launched another montage of them, but it seemed like the one’s he missed, specifically on Sunday against the Magic, never happened. Just a thought…

Bobcats jump four spots from a week ago.

“Funny old game, huh? Charlotte just took its record against Dallas to 0-12 lifetime … and 7-2 against the Lakers since February 2006. Cleveland is the only other team with a winning record against L.A. in that span.”

Bad part is that the Bucks are 11th and are 9-2 since the break. They even caught the Cavs sans-LeBron.

Bobcats improve to 7-5 against the Lakers all-time. Kobe and the Lakers were unimpressive for the most part, although somehow Kobe’s pass to himself off the backboard managed to be the top play on SportsCenter. It should have been No. 8 at best, but it’s Sportscenter from L.A., what can you expect? Only the Celtics and the Bobcats have a winning history over L.A.

1 game out of the playoffs. We need some wins and some help. Being 10-point favorites against the Warriors tonight certainly isn’t a bad thing…

I hate being a Bobcats fan right now. We’re getting trashed on the court and in the media. I’m not quite sure why everyone likes to pile it on such a young franchise. Maybe people really hate MJ or really hate Bob Johnson. I love the Kitties, but I’m truly deflated at the moment.

If NBA owners approve, Michael Jordan is going to buy controlling interest in the Charlotte Bobcats for a price that values the franchise at about $175 million. This is a big blow to the NBA because current owner Robert L. Johnson paid an expansion fee of $300 million seven years ago and the league has several teams hunting for investors. Other than right here, I doubt you will see a price for a long, long time in the media. Usually, when a team is sold related stories include estimated prices, frequently leaked by the NBA or someone involved with the transaction. I searched Google but could not find one story that mentioned the price. The NBA is embarrassed about the $175 million valuation. And rightfully so.

Tough stretch coming up

So to add a little sting to the loss last night, the Bobcats have a very tough stretch of games coming up. 3 out of our next 4 are on the road (Utah, Memphis, and Boston) and our two home games the next two weeks are against the Mavericks and Lakers.

All are playoff bound.

Considering we have played well against the top competition this year I’m too worried, but still, losses against teams like the Clips before a tough stretch don’t spring too much confidence.

Bad losses hurting Kitties again this year

Three wins over L.A. last year and three wins over Cleveland this year. The Bobcats have shown they can beat the best, but 11 losses to teams with losing records is a stat that may hold the Kitties back from achieving their first playoff berth. Even while some big guys (Mohammed, Chandler, Diop) are nursing injuries and Stephen Jackson was cold (1 for 16, ok really cold), there is no excuse to fall to a Clippers team that was meshing in some spare parts. 27 left to go and on the outside looking in…

Great night in a packed house for the Bobcats. Ty Thomas looked dynamite as well.
